This pouch is well made from neoprene material, with a D-ring connector and a thick hook-and-loop closure web belt loop on the back. Included is a strap with a strong nylon string for attaching to the D-ring, the way many cameras and other small electronic items do these days. The top cover closes with a substantial patch of hook-and-loop material.

I found the pouch very nicely made, with all the seams well sewn and quite sturdy. The inside is divided into three sections which could hold different items, such as a phone, Mp3 player, camera, batteries, or other small items.

It is roughly 4 inches wide and 5 inches long, and totals about an inch thick but the internal pockets vary in size, with the one in front being the smallest. The neoprene material is quite stretchy, which would be good for odd-sized items. I could get an LG-7000 TENS unit in the middle pocket easily, but my Canon A720IS camera was a very snug fit which required a bit of extra effort to put in. There are an huge number of small electronic items like this which would fit nicely.

The material is very soft, yet substantial enough to provide a pretty good measure of protection from normal everyday use.

I would buy more.

This was my first digital camera that I received back in 2004 - and only now do I see it failing on me (there are lines that look like scratches that are probably produced on the image due to worn out card reading mechanism). I also own a Canon EOS Rebel 35mm camera and will say Canon is the brand to go with.

I would buy the s500 for any really young person today trying to learn digital photography...and not paying much for it. Yes, it doesn't look as fancy as the new ones, but my photos have been amazing quality in the highest resolution modes using manual mode. [...]

The only thing that has been upgraded over the years with all the cameras has been the size of the LCD screen - which I've gotten used to. Yes it's about half as small as a standard cellphone screen nowadays.

The boxy size of it fits in all jeans pockets and small purses.
It does video too and is one of the old-fashioned digital cameras compared to today.
I was a 35mm experienced photographer when I began using it for candid shots and was not disappointed due to the ability to control a lot of the functions.

Also it uses the old style compact flash cards as memory, which are bigger, as are the rectangle batteries, but it's very compact made as a whole. Best quality are the photos!

If the film protector gets scuffed or scratched on my cell phone or iPod, as it always seems to happen eventually, I just wait awhile and let the scratches and distortions build up on the film before pulling it off and replacing it with a new film. However, having scratches and scuffs accumulate on the film protector that covers the screen of a digital camera becomes a far more significant annoyance when I am trying to carefully review photos. Even a few scratch marks on a DSLR screen protector becomes a nuisance when I am trying to review photos on my camera. And so I went ahead and bought these awesome GGS optical glass screen protectors for my 30D, 40D, and 7D main LCD monitor screens. I still use the small film section of the Lexerd - Canon EOS 7D TrueVue Crystal Clear Digital Camera Screen Protector to protect my top LCD panel on all three DSLRs.

Unlike the flimsy plastic films, this screen protector is actually made of a very rigid optical glass material that is 0.5mm thick. Lining the outer perimeter of one side of this very thin sheet of glass is a precisely-fitted 3M double-sided adhesive tape. The precision fit of this adhesive that lines the outer border of the glass is important because if there is not a totally good seal all around this glass sheet, it can allow dust particles to get between the LCD monitor and the screen protector. But upon close inspection, I think that my screen protector has a consistent seal around its entire border. To mount this screen protector, first, you check that the LCD monitor is totally clean. Then you peel off a plastic backing to expose the adhesive, carefully align this screen protector over the 7D's LCD monitor, and press it into place on top of the LCD monitor. Unlike using plastic films, you do not have to deal with possible bubbles or bending/warping happening underneath the screen protector. The adhesive that is used to mount the screen protector holds it in place firmly, yet if you need to remove or just re-position this glass screen, you can slide a thin razor blade or box cutter blade underneath the adhesive to slowly and carefully lift it off the LCD monitor. This glass sheet does not seem to attract fingerprints and smudges the way most plastic films that I have used tend to do. And, most importantly, if I rake my fingernails or even a house key across this glass, I do not leave any marks or scratches on it. Try that on any plastic film! This is the perfect compliment to my 7D's very nice 920000-dot 3-inch LCD monitor. The fit and sizing of the glass is also very precise, going out to all the edges of the LCD monitor. Because this glass is 0.5mm thick however, it does stick out more than if you had applied one of the plastic film protectors. You can actually feel the edge of the glass protector as it sits on top of the LCD monitor, and so that part of the camera's back surface will not be flush. But that is inconsequential to me as I love the clarity of this protector and how resistant to scratches, smudges, and fingerprints it is. Well worth the money for some added protection.

Canon Powershot SD550 7.1MP Digital Elph Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Beige) Review

I've had this product for a couple years. I used to have an older Olympus digital camera. The Canon SD550 is a good choice for the money, especially since I didn't want to spend hundreds of extra dollars for some more megapixels. Nevertheless, I find that the Olympus camera took MUCH better night/dark pictures than this Canon. The Powershot is good for the "point and shoot" feature, and can take very nice pictures, but something about the way they come up doesn't compare to my old Olympus. The colors, contrast, and brightness just don't come out as sharp - you really have to TRY and take a great picture, while with some cameras (e.g., my old Olympus, friends' newer cameras) they just HAPPEN.

Overall, this camera has been sturdy and has suited me well. I bought the Canon Powershot case for it, and it fits nicely.

The battery life is pretty good, and it's been able to withstand my bouncing it around and dropping it. I'd recommend a warranty if you're like me.

Conclusion: Nice camera for the price (which at the time was around 0 but should be much cheaper now). Could be better, but it's small and sturdy and has suited me well.

I bought this for my S5 IS because it does not have threads for UV & Polarizers & the like.
I found out after buying it that it covered & protected the lens very nicely. Made it so I could have a better grip on it too. I have yet to put lenses on it, but it already was worth the buy. I would recommend this to anyone that owns a Cannon S series camera.

The two downsides are that at the full wide it has a VERY small vignette and that there are two ways to put it on. I learned that if you put it on and it rattles, flip it 180 degrees and it fits fairly snug. Just an fyi to buyers.

I bought my Cannon camera about six years ago. Like all my electronics, the first thing I did was buy spare batteries. I bought two of these. My batteries were getting to the point they weren't holding a charge very well so I bought two more. When I got them, I started to cull out the old batteries based on how well they held a charge. The original Cannon brand battery was the first to go. It was not holding a charge as well as the two that I had purchased from Amazon. I purchased this camera to replace an older PowerShot model. I was pleased to find that the basic menu functions and operation of the camera were very similar to my older model. It made the transition very smooth. I feel like the camera would be easy to learn how to use even if you are unfamiliar with other Canon PowerShots. The camera has many great basic features as well as some "fun" options! The 12.1 megapixel resolution is wonderful! We really like the Vari-Angle LCD. This was an option that our previous camera had, and we were looking to get another with this very useful function. The zoom is exceptional! I have taken some great shots of the moon, animals, scenery... My wife wanted a camera that she could "point-and-shoot," while I was looking for something that had additional capabilities similar to a more expensive SLR. The SX20 is seems to be the perfect balance between the two.

The transaction with Beach Camera was smooth and professonal. I would work with them again.

I used to carry my previous small cameras in a Timbuk2 iPod case that was old and understated. Nobody paid too much attention to it, which is what I really wanted. Right as I bought my Sony DSC-TX7 my case suddenly disappeared and I was left with no choice but to pick up a new one.

Sony's obvious offerings are crazy. They either want too much money for their leather cases, or their cloth cases are not providing the functionality that I want. Tried to check out a local Target, they had at least 20 different designs, either these didn't fit my camera, or they did but they had a zipper, or the colors were too loud.

Then I found this baby here, almost by accident. It is priced ridiculously low (over half of what I was expecting to pay for the ugly cases I saw at Target), it has the belt buckle I want and it doesn't use a zipper. According to the published dimensions it would be about 5mm shorter than what I would need for my Sony DSC-TX7 but I was hoping that between the flexibility of the leather and maybe manufacturing tolerances it wouldn't be an issue.

It wasn't: the case fits my camera like a glove. It is soft black leather on the outside, and it is lined in suede. It has a small pocket inside that can be used to hold a memory card or that kind of thing. My camera is much thinner than the space available, but due to its construction the case still fits snugly and the camera doesn't bounce inside. I have no idea how long the clasp is going to last, but the leather itself looks like it is going to age nicely, it is a bit softer than what I would expect for a wallet.

The belt loop is not fixed, it uses velcro on its bottom so you can hook it to your belt without having to unbuckle it.

If you are just branching away from your kit lens that came with your DSLR, this is the first lens you should buy. Don't be fooled at its size, lightness, or underwhelming price. You will be blown away by the superb quality optics! Delicious colors, creamy backgrounds, closeups that will knock your socks off, all in a tiny plastic package cheaper than almost any other lens out there.

Beware, though, that there is a learning curve with this lens. I was very frustrated with it at first. I couldn't figure out exactly how to make this lens shine. It's best for subjects that aren't moving fast, and are indoors or in subdued outdoor light. Nailing down the razor-thin focus can be tricky - I still have problems accidentally catching the surface my subject sits on rather than the subject itself. But when you hit that sweet spot, you'll be so grateful you gave this lens a chance.

The 50mm "plastic fantastic" has gotten me hooked on prime lenses, and I can't wait to buy more. Out of all the other lenses in my bag, none of which are fixed focal length, this little beauty is by far the best in picture quality. I think next I'll try a 35mm, because as much as I love my 50mm, I don't get it out as often as I should, since in limited space you can't back up far enough to get your subject in the frame. It is a must-have addition to any lens collection, and for the price you'd be a fool to say no!

Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS SLR Lens Review

Until recently, I was working in a photography studio and using their equipment (they used both Canon and Nikon). I recently decided to purchase some equipment of my own, and this was the first lens I purchased (it actually came bundled with my Canon Rebel XS). As an experienced photographer, I would recommend this lens to someone who is buying his or her first d-SLR camera. This is a really good lens to go with an entry-level d-SLR (like the Canon Rebel), especially for someone who is relatively new to photography. This is an excellent lens both for snapshots and artistic photos. This visual range of this lens is about the same as the average human eyes. There will be some slight distortion around the edges of the photos taken at wider angles, but to avoid that, you'll likely end up paying several hundred extra dollars for a specialized lens. If you're a pro doing critical shots like architecture or technical photos, I would recommend getting a lens with less distortion. However, if you are at the entry level (or even if you're like me, a semi-professional who uses this lens mostly for landscapes and portraits), there's no reason to spend the extra money. This lens will work fine for you.

The lens mounts very easily onto my Canon camera, and the operation of the lens (including the Image Stabilizer feature) is very simple. There are a few drawbacks to this lens, the primary one being that the auto-focus motors are a bit sluggish, which can be a pain, especially if you're doing closeup work on wildlife. The other drawback is that the Image Stabilizer feature does not perform quite as well as advertised, but that operation is still decent and makes a noticeable difference in pictures taken at lower shutter speeds; camera shake is, for the most part, completely avoidable even at shutter speeds on the order of 1/30. The further advantage to that is that, even with the IS system, the lens is quite lightweight for a standard d-SLR zoom lens.

For a professional debating over a new lens, I might recommend a higher-cost, higher-quality lens, but this one is very economical. For new, up-and-coming photographers who are interested either in a casual hobby or in refining their photography as an art form, I would highly recommend this lens. In fact, if you are looking for an entry-level camera setup, I would recommend bundling this item with a Canon Rebel XS.

all around a nice purchase with excellent customer communication from the actual merchant, j and r (bought through amazon).

i had been worried about bad packing that other amazon members said they had when lens arrived (not necessarily from the same merchant), so i called j and r and asked them to make sure lens in canon box doesn't move around in the larger box. it might have come ok anyway, but they said they'd make sure, and they did. the lens came well packed.

as for the vaunted dust problems getting into the lens some of you may have heard about, i had found out from the experts at canoga camera calif that there is a small vent hole next to the glass at the front of the lens that allows air to draw in when lens moves in and out. per many posts on this issue on the net, i immediately put a clear glass multicoated hoya DMC1 pro on the lens to keep dust out. in the forums/blogs this was said to be the solution, as well as by the folks at canoga camera. as for the lens itself, when it arrived it was pristine and totally dust free inside the elements.

after putting the lens on my 20d i then shot 3 pix of my cat swirl and looked at the jpegs (not even the raw files) and was amazed at the quality of these 1st three pix with the lens. i have posted them on the customer pictures and are 3 cat pix in a row, so you can see straight out of the camera with NO photoshopping and judge for yourself. the shots were taken 1/15th second, 3200iso, f 2.8, full 55mm (for you portrait photogs) and in low natural room light...all of which test this lens at what might be considered any lens' weak points...wide open aperture/fully extended to longest telephoto length/very low light. looking at the pics i would have thought the shots were taken in a well lit setting at least at 1/60th of a sec, and probably around what is normally a sharper f stop than full wide open at 2.8. corroboration of the virtually unanimous praise of the lens' quality.

i am blown away by this lens. my reasons for getting it are handheld night city photography, which this will allow me to do better with the wider angles and image stabilization then my wonderful tamron 28-75mm 2.8.

this was pricey, but totally worth it if you care about your pictures. i shoot professional headshots and they need to be good. my artshots i love, and need to be good. i'm still shooting with the wonderful 20d, and amazed at the quality and life this new lens injects into an older 8.6 megapixel camera...albeit a superb old camera.

Canon BP50 Battery Pack for EOS Elan II Review

Although the Elan II/IIe camera is wonderfully ergonomically designed, the BP-50 improves this aspect even more, particularly for vertical shots, but even for horizontal ones as well. The shutter release on the vertical grip is convenient, and the user still has access to the thumb wheel on the back. Unfortunately, there is no redundant main dial on the shutter release on the grip. Also, when you have CF-4 set to 1 (autofocus on the AE lock button) then it's nearly impossible to use autofocus in the vertical position (unless you have a really long thumb!). Another advantage of the grip, though, is the ability to use AA batteries with the camera. You probably could pay for the grip over time with the savings of using AAs over buying the 2CR5 batteries. And AAs are a lot more readily available than 2CR5s, should you need batteries in a bind. In summary, if most of the pictures you take are hand-held, such as sports and candid portraiture, then the BP-50 is definitely worthwhile.

Canon Elph Jr. APS Camera Review

I got this camera in 1998 at a flea market for , the guy said he never put a battery in it, so he didnt' even know if it worked, so I was possibly buying a camera that didn't even work. I decided to try it.
I've had the camera for 6 years and haven't had one problem with it...and now that I have 2 kids, it has been dropped, etc, and still works better than any (non zoom) camera I've ever had. There is a feature that you can put 5 sayings on your pictures, but i've never used it. This camera went to Italy with me, and has travelled many stated in the eastern US, and still stands up to everything. if anything ever happens to this camera, I will buy another of the same exact style!!

It took me a while to find all the pockets in this case. I haven't ran out of room yet. All the accessories that came with my Canon HG20 can fit into this case and I still have room leftover. It is small enough that I was able to fit into lengthwise into my backpack and carry it on to a flight with me to Las Vegas. It has a lot of padding but luckily I didn't have to test that out yet and hopefully never will. Again, as with the neck strap I already reviewed, the only bad thing is the price but luckily you get a nice discount on Amazon. If the price was better then the rating would have been a 5.

Bought this for my wife for Christmas. She loved it so much and it took such good pictures I got another for myself. Killer battery life, great features and very well made. We take them almost everywhere we go. Lots of extra's available on the market like filters, lenses, etc. Haven't killed the battery yet even on high quality settings. Easy and simple to use yet has lots of high end settings if you want to adjust various lite settings, and fstops etc. Good buy.

Great deal! Pack is fully functional with lots of room for extra goodies. When I'm out on vacation, I even pack the digital video camera in it, as well as two extra lenses, camera, extra batteries, cords, chargers, manuals and accessories include in the package.
The lens cap holder has come in handy TONS of times. Inspired me to get one for all of my lenses. Cleaning "wand" is more gimmicky than anything but functional none the less. Love the filters as an added perk.
The tripod is more for beginner mode and isn't very stable but it came with it, so no complaints. I prefer a gorilla stand personally, but it's OK if you use it on level surfaces. Otherwise you risk tipping over. And the extra screen covers was genius addition. I've ever scratched my screen but I really never even thought about it until I put one on the camera. Glad I did it! Glad they were included!
Pack is compact, light weight, seems durable and well built for the most part. Handles most environments, from snow of the Rockies to the salt water spray of the Pacific (Certainly NOT waterproof though).
Lots of room on the outside for add-ons but not so good for traveling when things are on the outside. Needs a true place for a tripod/mono-pod holder though. That's the only thing lacking.
Overall a terrific buy. Highly recommend it!

Sigma 28mm f/1.8 EX DG Aspherical Macro Large Aperture Wide Angle Lens for Canon SLR Cameras Review

I bought this lens a week ago for about 190 less than the Canon version, and was initially disappointed. low aperture at wide angle has a very narrow depth of field, and often the pics would come out blurry or soft, but that's not the issue with the lens. I then compared this lens with Canon 50mm 1.4 that i owned, and at 1.8, both lenses showed nearly identical image quality in low-light, in aperture priority mode. but then i set my canon 40D to P mode and then started shooting outside in broad daylight, and the image quality is very comparable to canon 50mm.

i think the most importance thing to know is that you have to think about your technique when using this lens. when you shoot at wide angle at 1.8, the focus on the subject can be very very narrow. since u have a much bigger background, it's very easy for the lens to mix up the focus and blur out your subject unintentionally. say, if u take a pic indoor of a room at 1.8, most of stuff in the door will be out of focus....you'll have to up the aperture, and use flash to make everything in focus- in a way, it kind of defeat the purpose of 1.8 aperture, so don't buy this for low-light scenic photography. u be much better off by using the kit lens on a tripod. so your out of focus landscape shot would be a result of user error, not the lens.

pros: sharpness (very sharp, comparable to canon prime lens), sturdy, MACROS (it's amazing the kind of macros pics you can produce- too bad canon 28mm 1.8, 50mm 1.4, and 85mm 1.8 prime lenses DO NOT have macros capability), low-light shooting (portrait, stationary things, and very small things- not suitable for landscape unless you up the F-stop)

cons: bigger than canon prime lenses (except L primes).

I definitely recommend this as an ideal lens for close to 50mm point of view on a cropped sensor camera such as 40D, xti, and xsi

I am a beginner photographer so some instructions on how to get the most out of this product would have been helpful. Also the product came with 2 lens covers - one fit very well, the 2nd cover was too big and did not fit securely. It fell off and I have to find a replacement.

A fisheye can lend itself to some really unique ways of looking at things. I was really excited to get one. So excited that I couldn't wait to save up for a 0 fisheye lens. I ordered this attachment with the understanding that it is a temporary thing until I can practically invest in a real fisheye lens.

I've been pleasantly surprised with it though. It is very easy to attach to my Nikon 52mm 18-55 lens. I tried attaching it to my 70-300mm lens but the fisheye effect decreases as the zoom increases--the fisheye effect is almost nothing at 100mm focal length, so this attachment will be just for my 18-55mm lens. At 18mm focal length, I can see nearly 180 degrees. Things at the edges are very distorted of course, but its fun to be able to see my feet when I point the camera straight ahead.

I ordered it specifically to photograph a theater production. I had mixed results. In the low light of the theater, I had a hard time getting a clear photo, so I had to turn my ISO up--which I don't like to do, as it makes for a slightly noisier photo. The effect is cool though and I could get some angles of the stage that I couldn't get with a normal lens, so in all, I was happy with the results.

The macro uses are very good though. I've only done some test shots, but I can't wait to try some more.

Equipment Needed for Bird Photography

The nice thing about bird photography is that it all happened can on our beautiful earth. The not so beautiful, that shy bird, or small, and you must be able to approach close enough with your equipment. In this article we will get to the ideal equipment for bird photography. We will continue with a quick look at how to use this device.

Camera Housings

We live in the world of digital photography, and therefore we will only discuss digital camera bodies. I amalso a really big Canon fan, so I will talk Canon, and you can translate it to other manufacturers if you need.

You need a decent camera that allows you to continuously focus while shooting images in RAW image quality. The cheapest body contours, so you, this is the Canon EOS 20D. However, it is not really cheap. The reason, whether it is not affordable, that it is actually a very good all-round camera for the serious amateur orprofessional. You can not go wrong with this body ...

Lenses

Many lay people believe that a really decent long zoom lens will solve all their problems. I've been there guys, and they do not. Do what the pros do and use as long as fixed focal length.

I have the Canon EF 100-400mm IS USM f/4.5-5.6 for a long time, and my results were decent, but not good enough. It is not the sharpest lens. If you use a zoom rather with the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L StickIS USM. It is razor sharp.

I am now the Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM and it's the best thing that could happen to my photography. It is very sharp and very fast at the same time. A bit hard at times, but I need the exercise! With this lens I mostly use a Canon 1.4x Extender II for an effective focal length of 1 120 mm with autofocus! That is a lot for a bird, and I can not imagine that one day getting a lot of good bird photographs with a bit shorter.

By the way, donot use manual focus. Today's cameras were not as a viewfinder for manual focus are small and do not be detailed enough to see constructed effective manual focusing.

Photographing flying birds

Okay, now you have all the equipment and go into the field to receive the award-winning photo of a flying bird. You have enough light into the lens for a fast enough shutter speed must be frozen in motion. They also want to focus your camera to where the bird is inthe second you will split away before firing. So what are you doing ...?

Do not expose your camera to a speed of 400 ISO. With sunshine, which should be fast enough. The reason for the use of ISO 100 or 200 is that you are photographing action and you do not want to blur everything.

You must also ensure that your lens is open at its maximum aperture. A Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM lens coupled with a Canon Extender 1.4x II gives x a maximum aperture of 5.6, and that is what IUse when photographing flying birds.

Also ensure that your camera's continuous autofocus set. Canon calls this attitude focus AI Servo. This is crucial and the main reason why I am not a fan of camera bodies like the Canon EOS 350D. They do not allow that this focus with RAW images ... Thanks to Canon to be able to use!

I also set my image stabilizer to Mode 2 for photographing moving objects in order to avoid them, that in fact the image as sharp against theit ...

Now everything that moves on the left of that heavy lens around while the birds are gone. Happy Shooting!

Conclusion

We professionals have a way at some point and it sounds like you do not have good facilities and a good photographer. That is utter nonsense. Get decent equipment and you will see why the professionals of the shot and you do not.

The other thing that makes the professionals so much better than the average amateur is patience. Go and sit somewherewhere there are birds, not force you to move for three hours, and you will get the magic shots of the hunter. Your patience will be rewarded.

I take a lot of pictures of wildflowers in places where tripods just don't work, but I need a steady, dry surface to put my camera. This works for those situations. I can use it stretched out, or folded. It can be molded somewhat to provide a better angle. I especially like that it keeps my camera off the ground or protected from a fence post or whatever I may set up on. All these bean bags seem a little overpriced, but then many of the accessories I buy for my cameras seem that way to me. Maybe I'm just cheap. It does add a little weight to my camera bag, but at least it will fold up and fit in there. Won't replace my tripod, but is a good accessory for those tough shots. I use a Canon Rebel XTI mainly.
